Logan's 1st E.R visit

So today Steve called me at work...Logan had been screaming uncontrollably for 3 hours. I paged the pediatrician. She recommended that with his fever and the crash this week that we take him to E.R. to be checked out. I decided to leave work and meet them in El Dorado. I was thinking, "Really, if something is wrong they will diagnose us quickly and send us to Wesley." So I get there about 15 mins after Steve...Logan is screaming unconsolably. They gave him some Motrin(duh, we had been doing that!) and repeat a strep screen(duh, we did that at the drs Thursday along with a flu screen, CBC, CMP, Sed rate and blood cultures x 2 + a urine specimen). Of course the strep test was negative. They decide that he must have pharyngitis that is NOT strep...anyone heard of that because in all my years at a Strep prone patient and an RN I HAVE NOT?! Told us they thought he was teething...must be why he is so crabby. Really? They gave us amoxicillin and sent us on our way. We didn't want an antibiotic! We wanted answers! To top things off the poor kid is now covered head to toe in a fine rash...as an RN with limited peds experience, it looks like a viral rash. Then why the heck did they prescribe antibiotics? Now amoxicillin might not work the next time around when we really DO have a bacterial infection. It's so frustrating to see your happy go lucky kid screaming in pain and no one seems to care. Kind of makes you feel like a failure as a parent. I'm not only a parent, I'm a freaking nurse! Since when did teeth cause a fever of 102.8 that won't break despite Tylenol and Motrin...grrrrr...I am hoping actually is bacterial and the antibiotics take care of it. The fact that his fever finally broke today and now he has the rash suggests viral. Oh, the viscous circle!

Crabby Boy

Pictures are soooo deceiving! I try to catch him at his best for you. Does anyone really want to see the screaming, crying, tantrum pics? I don't like to witness it so I am guessing not! This guy has been one cranky boy. We went to the doctor yesterday because his low grade temp wouldn't break even with tylenol and motrin. They ran all sort of swabs and blood tests...all negative thus far so that's good. Doesn't give us a reason for his fever though. I am guessing it's viral. He has just been hateful too! I'm sure you can't believe that with his smiley pictures but it's true. After three days of being home I hate to say that I am ready to go back to work. I usually enjoy my child, even at his worst but tolerating hatefulness is not something we have had to deal with yet. Hopefully it isn't a preview of histerrible twos!

Cutie Pie

Well, Logan was in a bit of a mood today. He was up for about an hour and half last night...then only took a 45 min nap. We are ready for bed! This was the best shot we could do this evening. Dad spent the day car shopping and we stayed with Abby, Gray and Payton. I can hear the beds calling our names!!!

Dinner at Papas

Sunday Aunt Kate came to town and we had dinner with Papa. It was nice to see everyone and sing some music while the boys played guitar. I can't believe three days later I am just now getting these pics!

Exciting News

I am sooooo happy to share that there are very exciting things going on with my mom! Many of you expressed your enthusiasm as well when she started her own blog and I know that realizing you all are reading her page has been a constant source of support for her. Shortly before Christmas she made the decision for a number of reasons to leave my father...it's been rough...don't get me wrong. But, the changes I have seen in them both since then have definitely been for the better. Please help me encourage her mission work simply by visiting her blog and leaving a brief comment. I LOVE that the blogging community is sooooo supportive! Pics to come(I promise!) of your favorite little blonde haired blue eyed man!

Snowy Wreck

Well our bad luck streak continues on...on the way to drop Logan at daycare and go to work this morning we slid off the icy roads. Thank God we didn't hit anyone else. I took out two signs and badly damaged the car. All the side airbags deployed scaring the daylights out of us. The insurance adjuster looked at the car and the estimate was over $5,000. Yuck! Just what we didn't need. Thank goodness for full coverage. I can't help but be a little pissed that is seems the road crews have made no progress today with the roads(they still sucked on the way home tonight) and tomorrow we get to do this all over again. I hate winter!!! I am very thankful though that a small bump on my head was the only injury. Logan didn't even cry...what a trooper!

Our Week

I don't usually say this but it's been a rough week! Monday and Tuesday were fine...Monday Mom had lab drawn. Mom and Logan stayed home Tuesday(wishing there was somewhere to go). Tuesday night Logan woke up puking...then Wednesday morning Mom woke up puking and had to call in to work. Dad decided to stay home and take care of us both. Thank God for Daddy! Mom had just settled back into bed in the guest bedroom when Dad came running to the bathroom with Logan, puking again! SO mom decided Dad should go get Sprite...I will spare you the rest of the details but the whole day went on like this until about noon. Yuck! Wouldn't wish it on anyone! Despite the puking, Logan sat on the bathroom floor by the toilet and laughed. Maybe it was funny that we were holding his head over the potty...I'm not quite sure. Here's a few pics from puky day!

We didn't get out of our nasty jammies all day!

Thursday Mom went to work and these pics are from today...we took advantage of the 50 degree weather and went to the zoo with Abby, Gray and Payton. All was well until Mom fell over a rock holding Logan, banging both her knees and worst of all Logans head, against the rock. So Logan has two goose eggs and Mom two banged up knees but we're alive!

We got to take the new wagon to the zoo for the first time. Here's the wagon buddies. They loved it! So much better than being buckled in a stroller!
