Visit from Papa Steve and Saturday Night

Papa Steve came down to see us today while Nina was out with the girls.  We had a wonderful steak dinner and had tons of fun playing.  Gavin can be a crazy man on the floor hauling butt across the room and whining but as soon as Papa picks him up...quiet and still as can be!  Humph!  Need a button like that to push all the time.

After Papa left we had more fun out on the new swingset.  Logan loves to climb and Gavin loves to swing.  Gavin loves it even more when his brother pushes him.  So sweet!

I am pretty sure the bath water was brown tonight.  Papa was saying that my two boys are so handsome and cute that they could almost pass for girls, especially the baby.  Well, maybe...unless you are around them for more than 5 seconds.  Then you would know that they are ALL BOY!  The dirtier they can be, the better!  Pretty sure their little dirt streaked faces and gross finger nails wouldn't look to cute in pink sundresses.  Lol.

Poor boys.  It's a curse to be so handsome!

Easter Carnival

The Methodist Church(where we have been attending and I have been singing in the choir) had an Easter Carnival this a.m.  There were games, a bouncy house, an egg hunt and hot dogs w/chips!   We didn't even get to take part in all the acitivities because the boys were tired and cranky.  What a fun way to spread the word of God!

Our Day Off

We took a nap then went to the park!
Gavin was THRILLED to be in the stroller.
Here's my tough guy eating grass.
Here's my even bigger tough guy being brave with the geese.
Logan was sooo excited to show me the cucumber seeds he and daddy planted!

After four days in a row at work it is always so nice to spend a day home with my boys.
Love, Mommy

Tooth #2

Gavins teeth are coming in fast and furious!   He got his right bottom middle tooth today.  He is still a drooly box and aside from not wanting to eat is his normal self.  I think logan ate more when his teeth were coming in...with Gav its the opposite.  He is so busy crawling all over the house it's difficult to get him to concentrate on eating at all!

I am not one of those weirdo moms that is obsessed with weight gain.  However, I don't dig it when he lets less enough that I have to pump more!  Hopefully now since they are poking through we will get back to the normal routine soon.

Gavin {First Tooth}

See my tooth poking through on the bottom?
I am amazingly happy about it.

Finally, the tooth came in.  Yahoo Gavin!

Workin on a tooth

Gavin has been working really hard at getting in the first tooth!  He is a slobbery mess and everything he gets ahold of is being soaked in drool.  Haven't seen it pop through yet though it should be any day now!

Love, Oh Love!

Logan has really been "into" his baby brother here lately.  He is always wondering where he is, what he's doing.  Today Gavin was napping and logan asked, "Where's my brother?"  "He's sleeping"  I said.  "I go wake him up," he said.  Tonight he had an all out meltdown because he wanted to HOOLLLD his brother(that's how he says it too!).  As you can tell by the pics above, Gavin wasn't really into it but we subjected him anyhow.  Love, oh sweet brotherly love.  How I adore that Logan loves his baby brother so!

The Flood is Over!

For five days it rained, oh what a mess!
We could not go outside to play.
But, this weekend has been absolutely gorgeous,
two beautiful sun shining days!

We have played on our swing set, chased the dog
and Daddy got the garden tilled.
Now it's time to prepare for the week,
with love our happy hearts are filled.

Evening Cheer

Tonight was a great evening at our house.  Logan ate supper without throwing a fit and actually sat at the table.  Both boys got in and out of the bath without a major melt down.  These days I thankful for simple things like easy evenings at home!  Enjoy the pics of my smiling boys.

Oh Brother!

I can only imagine what evenings are going to sound like at our house in a few years.  These two rowdy boys already seem to make PLENTY of noice!  They do play together well for the most part though and for that I am very thankful.  Gavin is officially getting his belly off the floor and crawling now so nothing of Logan's is safe.  We are having a little bit of a difficult time learning we have to share ALL our toys.

Logan used to entertain Gavin but now that Gavin's personality is really starting to show I am beginning to see it the other way around!  Either way, they are so fun to watch.

First Skating Date

Today was our friend Tristans birthday party and they had it at the skating rink.  When we got there and I put skates on myself and Logan, Daddy thought I was crazy.  I am happy to report though that it is just like riding a bike.  I used to spend hours on end at the rink back in the day.  Logan is a chip off the 'ol block.  He didn't fall at atll

Aunt Kate and a Cute Baby

Aunt Kate stopped by to play trains with Logan and love on the boys for a bit on her way through town today.  She even made an appearance at the birthday skating party.  We love our Aunt Kate!

Sunny Weather 3/12/11

Finally!  Spring has sprung here in KS.  We enjoyed the weather today.  We have been readying the backyard for the new swingset we are soon to get for the boys.  Big news for today...Logan learned how to blow bubbles without putting the wand on his lips.  Well maybe it's not huge news but it's definitely progress!

A Little Mommy Time

Daddy caught this pic tonight...both boys have been MAJOR mama's boys here lately.  Thank goodness Daddy let me catch as much sleep as possible last night and got up with Logan.  I needed it!  I am a much better Mommy today.  How can you not just love these smiley boys?

Elmo Makes Music

Walking to the arena with our friends

 Silly Payton
 Intently watching Elmo
 The characters
Aunt Abby feeding Gavin cotton candy...pretty sure that isn't on the APA list of approved foods for a 5 month old!

I am only going to be honest in this post because I am horrible at lying.  The first 20 min of the show were fantastic...then intermission hit and things spiraled downwards from there.  Logan could not stay in our row(we didn't even attempt to keep the kids in their seats) and it was a sold out show so there was no room for kids running up and down the aisles.

After I decided it was time to go the real fun began.  You see only happy pics because there is no way I could take a pic of me trying to get the two of them to the truck nor do I wish to relive the moment.  I had Gavin in the Moby wrap and Logan just decided he was done...he would not walk anymore.  I tried to pick him up and carry him but he was kicking Gavin in the head.  So I put him down and marched drug him to the truck...the whole three blocks.

Don't get me wrong, I tried to get down on his level and simplify the situation.  I tried to bribe him with an icecream cone and when nothing else worked I spanked him.  Don't worry, spanking didn't work either.  I'm sure anyone who was watching was surely laughing hysterically at the stupid white woman dragging her toddler down the block.

I was really at the end of my rope.  I got in the truck and it took everything I had no to just cry.  My children are pretty well socialized and Logan is usually, at worst, "tolerable" in public.  Tonight was just not our night...ok today was not our day.  But there is always tomorrow, right?  I will look back on this story and laugh.  RIght now though, it's time for bed!

Double Trouble

These two mischievious little boys have been double trouble today and it is beginning to wear on the Mommy unit.  I am trying to get over strep throat and feeling much better after a good old fashioned shot of antibiotics yesterday.  Needless to say that my fuse is wearing short.  I could NOT for the life of me get Logan down for a nap this afternoon.  In and of itself that is not so bad.  But, everytime I would get Gavin down, Logan would wake him up.  God makes them cute for a reason...it is quite clear in times like this!  We are supposed to go see Elmo live with our friends tonight and I am praying it goes better than the day.

Gavin {5 Months}

At 5 Months Gavin:
   1.  Is growing, growing!  Not sure on weight as he hasn't had to go to the doctor for anything to be weighed.  Gavin is wearing some 3-6 but mostly 6-9 months clothes.  We are finishing up the size 2 diapers but they are getting a bit tight!
  2.  Has regressed as far as nighttime sleeping is concerned.  For the past month I have been unable get him to sleep more than 1.5hrs in his crib without waking.  So he is eating about every 1.5 at night.  He is growing great, and making one very tired Mama!
  3.  Is trying to crawl.  He has been rolling both ways for over a month now.  He gets up on hands and toes and belly flops or scoots across the floor.  It won't be long.
  4.  Is on diflucan for thrush again!  This our 3rd round of thrush...we can't seem to figure out why or how he's getting it. We have started Gavin on probiotics hoping it will help!
  5.  Is still generally a very happy boy.  Gavin is teething which may be part of our night time struggles right now but does very well during the dal.
  6.  Is such a love!  Is starting to be very interested in everything his big brothers are doing.

Little Gavin you are growing so fast!  I love watching your every move.  It's hard to believe how big you are already!   -Love Mommy

Quiet Weekend At Home

I have been off all weekend and we have just been hanging out at home.  Everyone in the house is trying to fight off colds...the boys have nasty snotty noses but thankfully that is the worst part.  Last night we didn't sleep because we couldn't breathe.  Every one has been medicated as much as possible and I'm hoping tonight goes better.  My two love bugs are so much happier when they aren't sick!  They have both been just as good as I can be expected though.

Joy

This little man is so full of joy...I never tire of his bright blue eyes and open mouthed kisses.  Aunt Kate got a taste of these kisses last night too.   Gavin is looking a little more like his brother everyday and man is he growing.  Last night I pulled some nine month winter clothes out because I wanted to make sure he got to wear them before it gets to warm.  He fills out the 9 month clothes nicely and has me thinking its time to pack up all the 3-6 month clothes!  Maybe if I get time this weekend.  We are off to Walmart for the weekly shopping trip with both boys...hoping everyone can behave themselves!
