Nothing Like an E.R. Visit to Finish Off the Weekend!

This afternoon I was folding laundry on the living room floor.  Logan was bouncing around on the couch and I had just finished tell him he had better stop or he would crack his head.  What happened next?  He fell off and cracked his head, his chin actually.  He was on the arm of the sofa and flipped over backwards into the rocking chair.  At first I thought, "It's not that bad.  It's hardly bleeding."  It soon became evident with the immediate swelling and subsequent gaping that was occurring that it would need attention.  Daddy was working, Papa was fishing...I did NOT want to take Gavin with us!  So I eventually begged the neighbor lady that has 18month old twin boys to let me add another to her brood for a bit!

Logan was a champ at E.R.  They got us right back, no waiting.  THe doc was trying to convince me to either leave it, or stitch it, he didn't think dermabond would hold.  But that it would need exactly one stitch and he would have to stick him first for the Lidocaine.  NO WAY IN HECK!  I pleaded with him to either stitch it without the lidocaine because Logan would be hell to hold down after being stuck for the lidocaine or use the dermabond.  I eventually won and we used the glorified super glue.  Less than 45 min and we in and out, has to be a new record!  Oh dear child, please listen to your mother when she tells you not to jump on the couch!

P.S.  2 weeks after this occurred, here is the pic of the healing scar, with the dermabond still on!  I told that stinking doctor that he wouldn't pick it off!

Mommy's Happy Boys

There just don't seem to be enough hours in the day!  Please ignore the basket of dirty clothes and the fact that both my kids are without pants.

Last night the boys stayed with Nana while Mommy and Daddy had a much needed date night with Abby & Walt, Kate & Tyler.

The boys were too busy for pics, us girls had a great time doing NOTHING.  We ate, drank, did not hold squirmy, fussy children or have to stop what we were doing to nurse babies.  It was nice, But, I was ready to see my babes my the time we picked them up the next a.m.

Daddy however, wasn't feeling so hot after our night out and spent most of the day in bed!

Couch Potatoes-Random Pics

Most of the time these boys are crazy little tornado machines that whip and run through the house like they have been caged up for months.  But, every now and then I find a quiet, sweet moment like above where they both get calm and snuggly.  I love it!

Coffe Nut

This little person just LOVES my coffee cup!  He is so gish darned cute carrying it around that I hate to take it from him.  When I get home from work each day the boys like to help me inside.  Logan always puts away the breastmilk while Gavin has fun with the mug.  He does eventually get tired of it and set it down but not for awhile.

Love and matching jammies

These sweet, sweet boys sure know how to melt my heart! Occasionally they have nice, loving moments like these that ensure me I am on the right track with them both. Most of the time however, they are wild, unruly and rambunctious! Grandma Jean made them both jammies...actually she made Logan and Mason jammies but they are too little for Mason and now fit Gavin. My boys love these jammies from Grandma. They are always Logan's 1st choice out of all the pjs!

Self Feeding

So, Gavin has been refusing baby food for months...I literally have a whole cabinet full that I had bought and he won't eat. He also, refuses to eat anything we try to feed him off spoon. He is a complete self feeder! Even if he lets you put something in, he takes it out and puts it back in himself. He LOVES to use silverware. He has a hayday scraping his bowl and chewing on his spoon. It's all fun and games until time to put the spoon down!

"Cheeseballs"

Any body else think these two look just a little bit alike?  At our house for pictures, Logan says, "Cheeseballs!"  "Cheese!" apparently wasn't original enough!

So, I am pretty sure I know who will be following my footsteps as far as being a camera fanatic goes! We have been playing hard...trying out all of Logi's new bday gifts. Sometimes Logan gets frustrated because Gavin doesn't seem to get that things are not his... Steve and I have been talking...while he was gone, as desperate as I might have felt..I fell into even deeper love with my children. With Steve laid off and me working 2 jobs, I feel like I missed a big part of Gavin's "babyhood." I am sad to think that he is almost already one year old! It hurts even more to think that he might be the last baby I ever carry, ever nurse...so we are contemplating having another. Just thinking about it makes me more excited than I ever thought I would be after our last pregnancy. Please pray that we are guided down the right path.

Daddy is Home, CELEBRATE!

Boy how we have missed our Daddy!  Today he came home.  He was sad that he missed Logan's birthday party so we had ice cream cake and celebrated again.  Mommy is leaving on business trip tomorrow for 2 days and the boys will have some well needed time together.

I am so thankful that Steve has found work again but we sure did miss him here.

Donuts!

Here is what the boys spent Saturday a.m. with mama doing!

Logan is 3

Dear Logan,
Today you are 3 years old...3 years!?  Where did the time go?  You are such a bright and charming boy.  You have your moments though...
Your check up won't be until the first week of November.  I know you weigh 32 pounds and seem to have grown 6 inches in the past 6 months.  You have one of the largest vocabularies.  I love to hear you say baaaalisious(delicious).  When you get excited we hear shish and singers instead of fish and fingers.  Other than that, you speech is impeccable!
You love to read, play outside, ride your bike but most of all you love trains.  Any kind of train will keep you busy for hours.  Naptime is becoming a thing of the past.  If you nap, then you wake at night.  Without a nap you sleep 9p.m. to 6a.m.
Your big news lately is that you finally decided to potty train!  Most days we go all day without accidents but sometimes have them in the evening.  You still wear a diaper at night though you usually wake up dry.  This has made you a bit sad because you didn't get to wear any of the cool cloth diapers I ordered for Gavin.
You are STUBBORN.  You will scream for an hour, throw your self on the floor and really let me hear about it when you don't get your way.  At the same way you are great at being persistent when trying to figure things out.  This is probably a personality trait you inherited from Mommy.
You are charmer.  You love to make people laugh and smile.  Payton is still your best/girlfriend when I ask you although both Mirandas are coming in at close second and thirds.
Your smile/dimple can light up the darkests of days.  I never tire of seeing that ornery little grin of yours.  I think this and the charmer trait came from your Daddy.
You are a picky eater...still!  You are the worst!  You love pizza, pasta, crackers, cheese and apples.  You despise all things vegetable.  Thank goodness you love milk.  The pediasure type drinks are becoming a staple in this house.  Your favorite treat is York peppermint patties.
I love watching you play with and take care of Gavin.  You are a great big brother.  I am sure that year #3 will hold plenty of surprises as you continue to learn and grow.
Love you bunches,
Mommy

Sleeping Boy Held by Big Bro

Tonight I was nursing Gav on the couch and he just plain conked out! Logan asked if he could hold him. Nevermind the fact that he weighs almost as much as Logan, I let him hold him. Let's face it, with Daddy gone I will take just about anyone up on that offer!!! LOL. Well, maybe not...but he did a great job. Gavin didn't wake at all and Mommy's arms got a moment of rest. I love how much these boys adore one another.

Birthday With Friends!

So let me just say, before I really dive into this post...that it took an insane amount of planning to even try to pull off a 3 year olds bday party with said 3 yr old plus an 11 month in tow, without a daddy!

Now that my disclaimer is complete...this party was a total wreck!
My now 3 year old bday boy refused to take a nap(never good).
Directly before the party we had 40min screaming melt down(not good for Mommy's patience).

At the party, Logan could not share ANYTHING.
He screamed like a 1 year old if someone even touched a gift of his.
He really was just plain rotten.

What the heck?  There was absolutely no sign of the sweet, handsome, loving boy we all know except for the brief period of time that he was running through the water fountains.
THANK BE TO GOD FOR WATER and Nana for making the cake!
If it wouldn't be for the fact that I know our friends' moms were all silently saying "thank goodness it isn't my kid today,"  I would have loaded him up kicking and screaming and drove home.

Well that's sort of a fib.  When it was time to go I did load him kicking and screaming.
Poor Nina came down for that party and felt bad that this Momma was stressed to the max with 2 kids, 1 bday party, 1 month alone with a Daddy and she even offered to watch the kids while I had dinner with the girls!

So, now that I am refreshed...I can laugh.   I can say, "This will be a birthday to remember!"
Let's hope the rest of "3" goes better than the party that welcomed the year in!!!

WILD!

So Daddys is still out of town working...it's been almost a month now with just two short visits to wash his clothes and drive away again...and these two babies are WILD! Time for Daddy to come home and wear them out.

Little Engineer

My great friend Toyia let us borrow this awesome little engineer outfit and Logan LOVES it. We were going to go the Great Plains Transportation Museum and take some pics when Daddy got home but since that day seems to never be coming we decided to brave the 100 degree heat and snap a few on the tracks here in town. Nobody tell BSNF! Logan was a bit intimidated and we actually left with him crying because he thought he was going to get to ride the trains. :( Ok, when I win the lotto someday I am buying a train to take little kids on! Until, we will keep pretending.
