Choas...truly

Most of you who know me, know that it was my weekend to work this weekend. So, no posts until now and no pics. But, there's always tomorrow...ugh, tomorrow...has to be the only day I am dreading more than Tuesday this week.

Tuesday night we leave for Texas. I am dreading it horribly and also horribly excited. Tomorrow there are bills to pay, cookies to frost, a Walmart trip, things to pack, four people to pack...including the baby.

Thank goodness for my wonderful husband who has helped more than he knows by cleaning the house this weekend. At least maybe now I can find what it is I need to pack in the first place! Hopefully I will catch a few shots of our darling amidst the chaos. Christopher comes home Tuesday after school and Aunt Kati comes to town to ride with us also. It's gonna be a mad dash to the finish.

Our first family vacation as a four-some. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it! My lovely blogging friend over at Just Breathe has so kindly tipped my off that it is National Organization Month...one month late of course! Maybe this will inspire me as I pack tomorrow. I always overpack but there is absolutely no room for it this trip. I have already decided that I can't live without the stroller, pack and play and the swing(it folds up and is in lieu of the bumbo or highchair for feedings) and thankfully mom will be bringing the pack and play and the swing in their vehicle.

More to come tomorrow...to tired to write anymore tonight.

Playdate

Do you think one day when our children are older that they will share and play this well? I am guessing, not. Today Payton kept trying to climb up on Logan completely "gut checking" him. Abby told Payton that someday Logan was going to be big enough to get back at her. Someday he was gonna walk by her and kick her legs right out from underneath her...then smile and say, love ya! And we are all gonna laugh and tell Payton that she deserves everything that he dishes out for all the times she wooped up on him before he was big enough/old enough/ bold enough to do anything about it! I must say though, for being five months younger than Payton with a head bigger than hers I think he holds his own!

Teeth Suck

There has been alot of this going on lately.

A Ray of Sunshine

We had to, just HAD to get out of the house this afternoon. Logan had not had a nap all day and I was literally going out of my mind. So we went and saw Hoochie Mama at the church. I bet you're thinking, a Hoochie? At a church? But I assure you that it is a loving term of endearment given to the charismatic mother of one of my favorite childhood friends(Hoochie a.k.a. Lyndsee) who happens to be a secretary and has been as long as I can remember at one of the local churches here in town that I just so happened to grow up in. You might remember me introducing you to Hoochie's new baby in a post earlier this month, here.

If that last sentence doesn't win a prize for the greatest run-on of all times then I don't know what will! The walk was brisk but nice and it felt great to soak up a little sun...Logan even got a nap out of it!

Blog Lurkers and Some Possible Time Away

Okay...I have to start this post by pointing out the obvious. I looked at our counter on the bottom of our blog this morning and was shocked. Over 15,000 views! I know we've had it for a year and I know that my mom looks at it at least three times a day but what accounts for the other 14,000 views?

I sometimes wonder who looks at and reads my blog but I've never really been inclined to care. I love when people leave comments and introduce themselves and their family blogs as well.

So for all you BLOG LURKERS out there, come out of the closet. Learn how to be social and leave a comment. And I don't want to hear that you don't have a google account as an excuse, you can post as a guest. Better yet, set up an account and join the rest of the people from this century! It's kind of creepy to think about the fact that so many people view our page and never, NEVER comment. I'm not writing and posting for myself here!

Now, not only am I opening myself up for everyone to see I am also exposing my wonderful child and family. If you won't leave your thoughts for me won't you at least leave a comment telling him how cute he is? After all, in lieu of scrapbooking I've decided I am just going to order that hard copy book of our blog when he is a year old. Wouldn't that be cool for your comment to be in his book?

I think I'm done ranting about that. From now on when I see that counter skyrocketing and no comments I might just sit a few days out to see what kind of bloglurkers will come forward and comment!

On a different note, our new computer arrived today. I don't know how long it will take my husband to get it up and running so I might be absent for a few days. Maybe I will come back fully refreshed and armed with some new pics and video of the babe to share.

Moving right along

I want food!
Or I'll eat my table tray...
Just kidding.
Wait, here's a spot I haven't licked yet.
I know, I know...I'm a silly boy!

Logan is officially done with the Bumbo seat. He gets ticked off and can actually push his legs up out of it. Not a good thing when you are sitting on the kitchen cabinet! So last night when I was at work Daddy had to get out the highchair and put it together. I think they had fun doing so and Dad even remembered to get the camera for a couple of finished shots.

The Best Laid Plans

Nana can you read mom's writing? I sure can't!

Well, long story made short we did NOT end up going downtown last night. Logan started screaming bloody murder about 25 mins before we were due to leave. Nothing we did helped and I couldn't bear to leave my screaming child whom even I couldn't console with someone else...even if it was his Nana.

So he screamed for about two hours straight then was much improved after a couple hours of sleep. This afternoon we spent some time with Nana teaching her how to set up ebay auctions to sell. It was a better day than yesterday, that's for sure!

Now, We're Happy...

...and trust me, this was not always the case this weekend. Logan has had his "moments" yesterday and today. I guess you would call them moments but they were more like episodes. Lasting anywhere from 10-25 minutes he would cry, wail and scream unconsolably. Nothing made him happy. Shoot, forget happy. I would have just been satisfied with NOT SCREAMING.

Then, as quickly as the episode began, it would end. He has definitely been chewing on things constantly. I'm not sure if him teething is the culprit for his behavior or if it's his tummy. I guess I thought that since I was a nurse I would be able to do more for him. I know he won't die from crying though and sooner it later it will cease. THANK GOD!

But, who thinks to take pictures of their children in these moments? Trust me if I would have had enough of my wits about me to think about taking a picture I'm sure it would have been priceless. I can see it now...tears and snot running down his face...snot bubbles coming out of his nose...face splotchy red from having scratched himself during his fit. Maybe tomorrow if he does it I will take a picture just so we can see how accurate the description is!

Tonight Logan has a date with Nana. Mommy and Daddy are heading down to the Iron Horse for a bit of live music and dare I say it quite possibly an adult beverage or two!

I hope the dog decides that he values his life more tonight than he did last night. He kept jumping up on the side of the bed and nudging at us. I don't know why. Logan was sleeping peacefully, finally. Then after about an hour of this he jumped up and barked right in Steve's face. Believe me, he is lucky he didn't wake Logan up or I might have promptly removed his barker from his precious little neck! Okay, so probably not really but I would have wanted to!

After all that, Steve picked him up and put him in bed with us and he was perfectly fine. He laid right down and went to sleep so it wasn't like he had to go out or something. The stupid thing about it is that he jumps up on our bed all the darn time, even at night. Why he was choosing to act like an invalid, we may never know. Aren't animals funny?

Days Gone By

While I have been at work, the past few days have drifted on by. Here's some of my favorite pics. Okay, so I didn't get them posted daily but I did take them!

Notice the lipstick lines on the side of his head
He finds something new with his Baby Einstein jumper everyday. Today it was the caterpillar that sits on a flower.
I love big fuzzy sleepers
Deer in the headlights!
Have I mentioned that I love turtles?

Mommy and Nana Time

I love my mom
She is so much fun!

Hanging out with mommy...

Helping Nana wrap gifts

What to do with all this ribbon???

Today was good...but very long. Logan had a difficult night last night. I was up about every hour with him. Normally, I would not feel bad and would let him cry his frustrations out but now he has this nasty hacking cough. The more worked up he gets, the more he coughs and thus the more difficult it is to get him back to bed.

Today we met a few of the girls from work for lunch. Logan was a bit of a sour-puss. What a mama's boy! I must admit it was awfully loud in that establishment. So, I thought we would come home and grab a nap...not to be had. Here we are, it's 9:41 p.m. and still no sleep for the little one. Sooner or later he has to give out, right? Thank the Lord I don't have to work tomorrow!

The Gift of a Day

Peeking at Mom
Smile for the camera!
Bright eyes
Today I received that gift of staying home with my boys. Above are my favorite pics of the day.

We don't have a full nursery at work so we are all taking turns having an extra day off. I doubt this lull will continue for long so I'm going to enjoy it while I can!

I got up and around this morning and had every intention of going to church. Then, Logan fell asleep on my chest on the couch and I was way to comfy to move. I keep thinking to myself, it's not going to be very long and he isn't going to want to cuddle anymore.

We did make it to Nana and Papa's for lunch. Then Nana, Logan and I went for a looong walk. It was so beautiful and felt so good to be outside soaking up a bit of sun. Uncle AJ called Nana's cell phone while we were walking and I got to talk to him. He's battling a sore throat and not feeling 100% but he assured us he was doing fine. Eighteen days until graduation(he's counting them down!).

We crafted for a bit in Nana's craft room then came home and restored some resemblance of order to the house. I have had two boxes full of baby clothes sitting in my living room for two months now. I finally got those sorted and taken care of. Now I'm off to go feed my little prince and put him in bed. His fever is gone but he woke up with a horribly hacking cough this morning. He acts fine otherwise. Maybe the symptoms of this little cold are all coming seperately.

Tomorrow we are spending the day with Nana and meeting the girls from work for lunch. They haven't seen Logan since he was about 8 weeks old. Should be fun!

Nap Time

Logan has been running a low grade temp since he received his shots the other day. I've been giving him Tylenol every 6-8 hours and I'm sure that it helping more than I know. Sometimes he is fussy as can be, other times you wouldn't think that he has a care in the world. This nap was right after a big fit this morning.

I say he has been fussy...but compared to the screaming children I take care of at work his fussy is nothing! He's such a good baby.

Daddy Time

I love seeing Logan with his Daddy and after being with me all day he was ready for his Daddy tonight!

Playmates

We took Abby and Payton to Wichita today to get their new car. That was of course after we spent 2 hours playing at their house first. Logan and Payton are so much fun when you get them together. Payton used to be able to just bulldoze Logan but now he's starting to fight back. She's 6 months older but weighs less than 3 pounds more than him!

Forgotten!

I must admit I forgot my favorite picture yesterday. Some of you might not know what this picture is all about...others of you will laugh!

Now I will explain. For those of you who were not around during my pregnancy, Logan's name was a mystery prior to his birth. Everything else had been so planned out and predictable(minus the months of fertility treatments and inability to conceive) that we chose not to share the name of our babe with anyone until he was born. So my father starting calling him "Bob."

I hated it! His name is "Not Bob!" I insisted. At my shower I opened a box with the above bib enclosed that with a tag said, To:Not Bob...From Papa. My dad(or most likely my mom) came
up with the clever idea. Since Logan is now eating rice we actually have reason to use all of our bibs. This one just jumped out at me tonight.

So, it made me chuckle as I hope it does you. By the way, we did grab Logan's hands to keep them out of the pic but he thought it was funny that both of us wanted to hold his hands at the same time.

4 Month Check-up

Here's the latest news!
I got my shots today, can you believe it?
2 month legs after shots...

4 month chunky monkey legs after shots!

Here I am at the doctors...can you read the scales?

For those of you that couldn't read the scales let me help you out. Logan now weighs 15 pounds and 1/2 an ounce. WOW! I knew he would be close to fifteen. As amazing as it is to me that he is that big, he is only 50th percentile on his weight. For those of you challenged with this concept it means that 50% of babies his age are bigger than him.

He was 25 inches long(50th percentile also) and his head was 17 and 3/8 inches(85th percentile). His head has always been considerably higher on the charts than his weight and length but all are following the growth curve normally. He got a clean bill of health from the doctor. He has been a bit cranky but no more than normal so we couldn't ask for anything more.

New

Okay, so a picture of Logan isn't new but scroll on down and see the pics of my good friend Lyndsee's new baby. His name is Brenden and he is just little lump of joy. He's so tiny, I can't believe that four months ago Logan was that small! And he has so much precious hair...jealous. I know, I know bald is beautiful, right? Anyhow he was still just so cute and I had to share pics. I took the picture of Logan because he was either sleeping or screaming all the way through lunch. I'm not sure what was wrong. It wasn't a hungry or cranky cry either. He would just wrinkle his face up and start wailing like something was hurting. I felt so bad, he never does that!

We're off to see the pediatrician for his 4 month check-up this afternoon. After his crying at lunch I'm almost glad we are going to the Dr. Maybe she can give me some insight. Then again I'm never glad to give/or see babies given 4 different shots. I can tell this might be a long evening.
