Sickie

The stress of getting ready for vacation wouldn't be complete without having a sick kiddo to worry about.  Logan started running a fever at daycare today and complaining of a sore throat...off to immediate care we went as soon as I got off work.

I sometimes wonder what people are thinking as they watch me in public with my kids.  Sometimes they are well mannered and behaved.  Then are days like today.  I was trying to sign Logan in and pay our copay and Gavin kept running out the front door.  The fun little game ended with me practically holding him down on my lap while paperwork was completed.  Thank God Daddy showed up to get the two little before we went back to the exam room.

Logan is such a mature kid.  The APRN asked him about his symptoms and how he had been feeling.  He says, "My throat feels like it is getting cut with a hundred knives."  Bless his heart.  The rapid strep test was negative but he is on antibiotics anyone.  Hopefully we can get him back to 100% before we leave!

Zoo Day With Mommy & Aunt Kate

Sometimes you just need a fun day out of the house.  I have been working much of the time here lately getting ready to be off for vacation.  But today, I spent the day cruising around the zoo with my loves and my baby sis.

These kids love their Auntie.  I get frustrated that they don't see much of our family aside from my parents, very often.  Aunt Kate is not included in that frustration though.  She makes tie regularly to show them her love through her gift of time.  As we were writing our will in preparation for leaving the country next week, I was reminded of just how much Kate loves my kids.

So all sappiness aside, zoo was a blast but man was is HOT!  We got to see several new babies.  It was another fun day at SCZ!

Eye Update

This a.m. Gavin had another dreaded appointment with Dr. Whitfill.  While I believe this man is knowledgeable and good at this job, his bedside manner has never been a strong point.  This morning though, things were a little different.

Gavin actually cooperated and did every single one of the eye charts, even covering each eye when asked and continuing on.  He didn't need me to sit with him at all and was attentive to the nurse.  Dr. Whitfill was even pleasant.  I don't know if it was just a good day for him or if he was trying to give Gavin some positive reinforcement.  Either way, I will take it.

Best part, Gavin's vision is stable and his esotropia improving.  We don't have to go back for 6 months and when we do go back it will be for a quick vision check(no dilation).  Yahoo!  I know that this is a very small health problem and I am thankful that my kids are well.  But this doctor's office is one of my least favorite places to be!

Good 'Ol Water Balloon Fight

Steve came early today(by 4 P.M. on a Saturday is unheard of) so we had a blast hanging out with the kiddos in the backyard.  The kids and I had quite the mission finding them and they were bound and determined to pop as many as possible!

I must say I have been loving the heat here lately.  They are just content to be out back in a big pool of water with a root beer or lemonade in hand, soaking up the sun. And man does it make for much less bickering.

I will be sad when it gets too cool and we have to say goodbye to summer.  Until then...we will be soakin' it up!

Lake Night With Friends

We spent the evening at El Dorado Lake tonight with our friends.  All was well until sis decided she wasn't going to put on a life jacket and get in the boat.  So Mommy drove around with her for an hour while the other kids tubed.  We met up in cove to swim for about 45 min and managed to get Kate into a life jacket for that.  But she wanted no part of riding back in the boat.

So, here we go again...drove around for about an hour and a half while the other moms and dads had fun on the boat with the kids.  I can't hardly blame Kate.  She had never worn a life jacket before.  And she was so exhausted after fighting with me that she fell asleep in the truck.  So we headed back to the campsite to start supper.  When we got there, Kinsley were there with her grams and gramps and ready to play!

I know as our kiddos get older(and I am NOT rushing that), there will be so many more things we get to do together as families.  The boys had a blast on the boat and I could see us one day having our own!

Love you Ashley and Abby!  Thanks for a great time tonight.

First Sleepover

We had our first "Official(aka not Payton)" sleepover tonight.  The Cryderman boys came to keep us busy for awhile.  I had promised park time but since it is STILL raining, we settled for McDonalds, play doh and a movie.  I think it was almost 11 by the time I got every down!

Gav's 1st Filling

Logan, Gavin and I went for teeth cleaning this morning.  My increase in flossing has paid off and Mommy had zero new cavities! Unfortunately both the boys needed work done.  Logan had to have a root canal on a baby molar.  We will go back next week to have it sealed and do the other small filling he needs to have done.  Gavin had four little fillings that needed done.  Surprise, surprise that despite IMAX goggles and trying nitrous we couldn't get them done.  I will have to take him back at the end of August to have them done under sedation.  They are so different.  Logan had fillings done at Gavin's age and it was a piece of cake.  In true Gavin form, we can't make anything easy!
I am thankful though that we have medical insurance that will help to cover the sedation.
I took both

Aftermath

This is one of my cute little monsters...

 ....and this
 is the aftermath...
...of their dinner!

Yes pizza and pop tarts, don't judge.  Every ate, everyone was happy.
And, after a full day at work, sometimes that is all one can ask for!

Bubba Visit

This summer Christopher has been working full-time with Steve.  Ever since the move he has not been living with us,  Tonight after work he stuck around for supper and to play some games with the kids and they were in heaven!

July 4th {2015} Part 2

I am feeling completely content tonight...don't think this post needs many words.
