Gavin 3 weeks(a little late!)

Gavin is growing and changing so fast!  He is getting better about sleeping longer stretches but is definitely a noisy little sleeper.   He has such a good personality though, only crying when he is hungry!  Logan got to help give a bottle last night and still really likes him...for the most part!

Check-Ups & Updates

Well, well where to begin?  I have not been very good about keeping up with my posts the past couple of days.  On Friday 10/21/11 Gavin went to the doctor for a check up.  He was up to 7 pounds 7.5 ounces and has grown an inch and a half since birth already making him 20.5 inches.  He is now being started on zantac for reflux.  Last week he began spitting after he ate, got extremely fussy and arches and screams the whole time he eats.  Not fun.  We will see if the Zantac helps.

Saturday night Aunt Kristin came into town for a short visit and got to meet Gavin.  She held and cuddled him and even gave him a bath!  Way to go go Aunt Krisitin,  It was great to see her...just wish Uncle AJ could see Gavin while he is little too.

Sunday a.m. we had breakfast with Papa, Aunt Kate came to town and we spent a bit more time with Aunt Kristin before she left to head home.

Today, Logan had his 2 year well child check.  He was SO well behaved.  He did everything the doctor asked, no holding him down for exam.  He showed off his vocabulary and named all the objects she asked him too.  Surprise, surprise, he is a little(OK quite a bit) ahead of other kids his age for speech skills and vocab.  He has also had a growth spurt.  He is now 30pounds(70th percentile) and 34 3/4 inches long(45th percentile).  Head circumference is still >95th percentile but growing accordingly.  He even got his flu shot and there were exactly 2 tear drops shed.  Then he hopped off the table like a big boy and proudly walked right out of that office.  Nevermind that the minute we exited the clinic our behavior started becoming a bit more typical...

Breastfeeding this time around has been so much easier than with Logan.  Gavin is a fantastic nurser.  Even still it has had its ups and downs.  I have been on antibiotics since Friday for a spot on my right breast that doesn't want to heal.  After all weekend on antibiotics we are still not healing.  So, I am off to call the doctor again!  Hopefully Mommy will get a nap in this afternoon.

Walters Pumpkin Patch {2011}

Yesterday we made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch.  The weather didn't cooperate but we didn't let that stop us.  Baby Gavin made it out of the sling just a few times for pictures but was otherwise kept hidden from the bitter, cold wind.  The toddlers didn't seem to care though that it was cold and had a great time playing.  Tristan and Maddie didn't get to come because the pukes started going around their house and they were greatly missed.  The best thing about the trip was that no one else was there!  We didn't arrive until about 4p.m. and that coupled with the weather ensured us free run of the place.    These Taylor and Maclaskey children are wild...hope us Mommies can continue to keep up with them!

Sweetness

Today was our first full day home together...just me and the boys.  I won't lie.  There were some VERY trying moments.  But there were sweet moments too.  It's difficult to believe that Gavin will be two weeks old tomorrow.  We are making our annual trip to the pumpkin patch too after attending the funeral of a young man I went to school with.  The funeral will be sad but I am hoping for good weather and some great pics from the pumpkin patch to cheer us up!

Hanging Out

Yesterday I attempted a little photo shoot with Gavin.  Logan was being far to helpful though.  Everytime I got Gavin in a good position Logan would jump in the middle of the pic.  When I finally got Logan distracted enough(35 minutes later) Gavin was done being a good sport about it.  Such is like with a newborn and a toddler!  They are still my cute boys even if they are both ornery as all get out.

Newborn Pics

We had the opportunity to do some skin to skin pics for a promo deal with the company that does the hospitals baby pics.  I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how good they turned out!  Of course my only request was that my head be cropped out if they are hanging in the hospital I work in.  They also did a few pics of just Gavin and he was a complete doll.  Enjoy!

Paytons New Love

Payton and Grayson came over to meet Baby Gavin today.  Payton has been anxiously waiting, always asking when she is going to get to see and hold the baby.  She was so excited that he was outof my tummy!  She is quite the little mother hen.  I think she is going to help us keep all these boys in line.

Snuggles

Today Papa came down to meet Gavin and see Nena.  I think he was missing his wife!  It was too sweet seeing the boys with him.  He is always working when we go to Haven and we rarely get to spend more than an hour with him.

Gavin is just as snuggly as can be.  I could sit and cuddle him all day.  I am already thinking I am going to dread going back to work!

Gavin Anthony {One Week}

It's hard to believe that tomorrow Gavin will be one week old already!  He is such a doll.  We just can't get enough of his sweet smile and easy going personality.  It's a good thing he IS so easy with big brother around.  Nothing stops a two year old, not even a baby brother!

Last night we went to bed at 9:15 and Gavin woke up at 1:15 and 4 to eat then slept until 6:45.  What a treat!  I am not delusional enough to think that every night will be like this but it sure was nice.  Tomorrow will be a full day.  I have a dentist appt in the a.m., we have some errands to run it Wichita and are stopping by to see a friend of mine that also just had a baby.  Happy one week birthday Gavin!

Mommy Time

While Nina has been here helping out Logan and Mommy have enjoyed some time together.  Today we painted pumpkins and finger collages.  Logan got such a kick out of me painting his hands then pressing them into paper.  His pumpkin turned out mighty cute too!

In Love

So, I didn't think it would be like this...but I am soooooo in love with Gavin.  I couldn't imagine after having one child that there would be this much love in my heart for another.  Gavin is so pure and sweet.  I could spend all day looking at and loving on him.  He isn't fussy at all, unless he wants to eat.  He knows how to eat(this is a major improvement over bringing Logan home).  Maybe it's just that I know what I am doing with breastfeeding now...I am not sure but feedings have been so much easier this time around.

I am soaking up everyday I get to stay home with my two boys.  Logan is still doing well. He wants to hold and love on him when he wants to and then only but it too sweet.  Steve is great with Logan but watching him with Gavin it reminds me again at how gentle and tender he is with our children.

Meeting Gavin

We got released from the hospital Thursday a.m. at just over 24 hours old.  Gavin is doing great.  He is a little barracuda, eats like a champ!  We are all adjusting at home and tomorrow Daddy goes back to work.  Nena Jerri is coming tonight and staying for a few days.

Logan is doing fairly well with his new little brother.  He loves to share everything with him and tell him all about his trains.  The only thing that is confusing to him is breastfeeding.  I tell him that the baby is eating and he says, "Ooooh, he drinking milk!"  He then promptly tries to shove him off my breast so he can have a drink.  We have had several talks about boobies beig for babies and that Logan drinks his milk out of a big boy cup but he still isn't convinced.  It will be something funny to write in their baby books I suppose!

Brothers Meet

The boys came up to meet Gavin this afternoon and it went much better than I had expected. Logan was completely in love with "his baby." He smiled and giggled at him, pointed out all the different parts on his body that he could say and even wanted to hold him. I was just praying for not throwing an outright fit and trying to poke his eyes out! Watching Christopher hold Gavin reminded me of when I watched him hold Logan for the first time. There is just something so innocent about the newness of babies. It's going to be fun watching these boys grow together!
