Splash Park {1st Visit of 2013}

Logan begged us to take him to the splash park this evening after supper.  I used eating all of his dinner as  a bribe...of course he ate it all!  It was only about 75-80 degrees but we went!  The kids had fun and better yet, it wore them out.  Daddy went with us tonight which is a rare treat.  If I take the kids somewhere Steve usually spends every spare second working.  Even Daddy admitted that they were pretty fun to watch!

Progress: Swim Lessons

 My big boy jumping all the way into/under the water.
 ...and happy in a life jacket,
and showing off his ice cream scoops!

Last month I decided to enroll the boys in swim lessons at the YMCA.  I was very doubtful at first that Logan would make progress since we had tears throughout the first class but he has done great!  The teacher   even passed him to the second class.  The only thing he didn't do was stick his whole head under water to grab a ring...still working on that. He will stick his whole head in, just not to lean down and grab the stinkin' ring! He is enrolled for lessons(the next class up) this month.

Gavin, on the other hand, is another story.  He is fearless in the water but still a bit too young to follow directions or have any organized kind of instruction.  The purpose of his "paddlers" class was just to get him  comfortable in the water without hanging on to Mommy.  He needed no real help in this.  I think we will wait to pay for additional lessons until next year for him!

I am so proud of my little water babies.

Memorial Day {2013}

I forgot to get the camera out until late in the day but we had a busy Memorial Day!  The Maclaskeys came over for a play date and lunch.  Then while Gavin napped, Abby took the other kids skating.  Logan was a very tired, sweaty boy when he came home.

Soon after, Grandma Wilma and Grandpa Kenney stopped by as they were coming through town.  Of course since we had already planned to grill out for supper, they definitely needed to stay!  We enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, chips, banana cake and strawberry shortcake complete with strawberries from Papa's garden for our meal!  YUM!

Sharing

We have been working on our sharing skills.  Here's some pics I caught of the boys sharing an ice cream cone today.  It went much better than I had thought it would!  Our sharing skills are improving.

23 weeks=Viability

I had an OB appt today...when the doctor informed me I needed schedule my glucose testing my response was, "How far along am I?"   When he said 23 weeks I honestly about peed my pants.  Where did the time go?  I guess it really was 5 weeks ago that we had a sono and found out this growing little babe would be a girl.

I have gained 17 pounds so far this pregnancy.  Having a few contractions here and there, nothing remarkable and no bleeding!  I am still working both jobs and feel great!  Today there was an awful tornado about 2.5 hours south of us in Oklahoma.  Steve and I will be traveling down next Saturday, taking a load of supplies and if we are needed, volunteering.  I am feeling so very fortunate right now while some have lost not just all of their possesions but loved ones as well.

Gavin {18 months-a little late!}

I forgot Gavin's measurement at his doctors appt last month and had to wait for his ear recheck to ask for them!  So his post is a little late, but here it is.

At 18 months:
1.  You weighed 22lbs 11oz(11th percentile)
2.  You were 31 1/2 inches long((24th percentile)
3.  Head measured 18 1/2 inches around(25th percentile)

You are a little guy but man are you strong!  You knock over your big brother like he is nothing.  What you lack in size, you make up for in sheer strength.   We are working in getting rid of your binkie.  You can go several hours during the day without it now.  As you lose the binkie, it is so fun to listen to your speech come alive.  You have always been appropriate on speech but only when prompted.  Now you carry on full conversations(we can understand about half of it!).  Your latest phrases are "love ya" and "sorry."  You now understand what it means when someone says ouch and coming running to tell them you are "sorry" and give love!

Sleep is going better.  You are out of Mommy's bed.  You won't sleep through the night so we have you sleeping in the guest bedroom instead of with Logan.  You sleep about 9p.m.-1 or 2 a.m. then need Daddy to lay back down with you.  Since Mommy has stopped nursing you, you have become quite the Daddy's boy.  It is so fun for Mommy to watch.

You are so very opposite of your brother.  Logan is clean, you think the messier the better.  If there is coffee in trashcan you are dragging it out on my floor.  If there is a can of pop, you have dumped it everywhere.  If Logan spilled a drop on his shirt, he'd have to change.  Sometimes I could promise that you use yours as a painting canvas.  If there is something happening you want to see it and if there is a new toy or gadget, you want to figure it out!  Logan is very serious, you are very silly.  Logan will "tell me off" when he is in trouble, you stick out your chin and growl then stomp your feet.  It is very clear that the parenting styles it will take to raise you both into loving little men will be very different.

You are beginning to understand that there is a baby in Mommy's belly.  It isn't enough just to talk about it, we have to pull up Mommy's shirt and SEE the baby.  Oh sweet Gavin, how your world will soon change.  You are my happy-go-lucky, love-me-to-death, laugh-until-I-cry little man.  We have so enjoyed the wonderful addition you are to our family!

Mothers Day {2013}

Last night Kate and I took mom to Sumos for dinner with Tyler and Steve along for the ride.  It was really nice to sit down and enjoy a dinner out with having to get up and go to the bathroom to discipline a child, or clean up a spill, or wonder if the tip we left was big enough to cover the mess the kids made...however, it just isn't a normal without my boys!

Today both of the boys fell asleep during praise and worship at church.  It was just the Mother's Day gift I needed.  It was the first time Steve and I made it all the way through church sitting next to each other.  We actually got to listen to the preacher preach the whole sermon!  It seems small, I know.

This afternoon we went to Haven to see Nena and Papa.  My boys love their grandparents but man they sure do have fun with their cousins too!  Aunt Leslie and I were laughing to hard at one point that I know I peed my pants(not that it takes much to make me do that these days!).  The boys and Steve got me a pedicure gift certificate which I plan to use promptly, tomorrow!  I am exahusted and the both have been in bed for 45 min now.  Guess it's time to turn it.  Happy mothers day to all you mamas out there.  And prayers for peace and comfort to all who dream of being a mom but haven't yet received a baby into their arms.

We Love Apples!

Gavin has always been fairly decent at eating fruits. He loves bananas and grapes.  Logan however has always hated fruit.  About a year ago we finally found one he liked!  Now both these boys LOVE apples.  Gavin goes after one in all out attack mode, it is quite cute to watch.  You can routinely find us eating apples for our evening snack...hooray for something that isn't candy.

Carpenters

So, officially...this weather is making me nuts.  It is 40 degrees out this evening, wet and windy.  I running out of things to keep these 2 busy in the house!  They do love to build though.  Logan loves to go down to the basement and "help" Steve build guitars.  Gavin is completely mesmerized by tools, fake or real.  I am hoping that they both grow up to be as handy as their Daddy is around the house.
