Sickypoo

This little gal has not felt well.  She started running a fever Sunday night but it was low-grade and I was convinced it was just teeth.  Mom Monday afternoon though in the middle of our painting project, she was running 102.6 and was super fussy.  No other real symptoms so I waited until the offices opened Tuesday a.m. first thing to call(closed for Memorial Day on Monday).

We went in and saw Dr. Bird since Dr. Perry was booked.  She weighed 16lbs 11oz.  He said her left ear was full of puss and the right ear looked infected too.  She hadn't been pulling on her ears or anything!  I took her home started her on antibiotics.  We were still running 102.6-102.9 on tylenol and motrin around the clock.

Weds a.m. showed no improvement and to add to it the little chick wasn't keep down any fluids.  Only one wet diaper in 16hrs sent us back to the Dr.  Dr. Perry didn't think she needed IV fluids and sent us home with zofran and tylenol suppositories.  Weds night was horrid.  She would wake up about every hour and a half and scream for 30-40min.  Nothing I did would calm her and she refused to eat.  Finally, Thurs a.m. her fever started to come down.  She ran 101 all day Thurs. Friday a.m I had a super important meeting at work.  With her temp 99.5-100 I took her to daycare with the boys and went into work.

I got a phone call at 3p.m. to see she now had blisters in the back of her throat.  Oh dear LORD...give her a break!  I called the Dr. who said it was most likely either strep or hand, foot and mouth but on any account, there was nothing new to do.  She was at least eating which was a major improvement.

Finally Saturday my happy, afebrile girl returned.  We can go a long while without another week like this!

Please Excuse Our Mess...

Abby saw this cute idea on pintrest and we decided to give it a try!  It wasn't difficult at all and the kids had a great time...except for little miss Kate that had an awful fever.  We now have this proudly displayed in our living room!

Happy Memorial Day!

Zoo Day {5/23/14}

We had a fun group at the zoo today!  This was the twins'(friend from high school that now lives around the block) first zoo trip.  The Gerhardts Maclaskeys met us...such a good time!  We got rained on but no one cared(except Payton).  The highlight of the (pic above).  We are so blessed to have a cool place to hang out and such close friends to share time with!  Oh yeah, and it's also like free therapy for the mommies.  :)

Smiles All Around

It doesn't seem like I have much time for picture taking here lately but everyone was in such good moods tonight we had to sneak it in.  Notice Baby Kate's two little teeth?

Mother's Day 2014 {a bit late}

Kate was on her cruise with Tyler last week(did I mention they are now engaged!?) so we celebrated Mother's Day a little late.  We cannot wait to see A.J.  It is so evident at our family functions that he is gone...but we had a good time anyhow.  This crowd is never dull around here.

I am sure you can tell from the bottom pic that the kids were all in rare form.  Happy Mother's  Day Mom...thanks for being a great Nana to my babies!

Yuck...allergies.

Well it is springtime in KS and with that come a crap ton of every allergen imaginable.  The kids are hacking like they have pneumonia, draining out their eyes some nasty crap and we are all leaking from our noses like runny faucets.  TMI, I know.  However, we seem to be keeping pretty good attitudes through it all!

Randomness

Kate is doing so much better with solids.  Today we had a bday bash for three sibling friends of ours(group pic).  This afternoon it stormed and hailed.  It really put a damper on our backyard fun!  But the boys had fun examining the hail stones afterwards.  I should have something funny or witty to say but this Mama is exhausted!
