Finding Himself

Gavin has found himself!  He now LOVES watching himself in the mirror.  He giggles and laugh like it's the first time he recognizes himself, every single time.  One of the cutest things yet!  He used to smile at US in the mirror.  We are clearly a point of entertainment for the past.

Rolley Polley

Gavin is our little rolley polley!  He quickly gets from one side of the living room to the other.  I love watching his chubby little self rolling across the carpet.  He's trying to crawl too!  I will try to get a video soon to upload.  My baby should not be growing this fast!

Sunny Weather

We have had some really nice days here lately and today was another.  Lordy how we have missed being outside!  Today was about 62 and NO WIND.  I know, right?  That hardly ever happens in KS.  Logan took advantage.  He played outside with Mommy for awhile then went to Papa's and spent some time playing with Lisa.  I am SO READY FOR SPRING!  Keep those nice days coming.  Thank you God for this beautiful day!

These Lovey Boys

These lovey boys make my day and steal my heart!
They make me laugh when I feel like falling apart.
There's never a problem they think I can't solve,
Around them does my entire world revolve.
Each little laugh, giggle and smile
Make me feel like all my efforts are worthwhile.
There's one thing I know my sweet boys, yes it's true!
No one will ever love you like I do!

First Foods

Just as Gavin seems to be a bit ahead of his time with rolling and crawling he is not being very patient about being stuck with breastmilk.  Rice is thing of the past...he eats 2 or 3 bites then blows raspberries at me.  So tonight we tried pears.  He loved them, hardly any mess on his face because he ate them right up!  I only gave him 1/2 a container but I am sure he would have eaten all of it if I would have let them.  I know they are suppose to wait until 6 months but this little guy just doesn't seem to understand that he is only 4 months old!  Such a big guy...

Playdate 2/23/12

We have been waiting for all of our friends to get well.  Today we finally got a chance for a playdate with the Mesplays.  Anderson is 6 months older than Logan and Layla one week younger than Gavin.  Perfect for cuddly little playmates!  Yeah, right...these are three boys we are talking about(poor Layla).  Logan and Anderson were in rare form.

The babies were well behaved and it's a good thing.  These older boys sometimes demand all the attention.  But, they do love their baby siblings.  Anderson is crazy about Gavin, Logan is crazy about Layla.  It's so fun to watch.  It's amazing how we have babies in our houses that neither toddler cares about...but bring in a different babies and they are all about it!

Our visit was but short by nap time, but it was sooooo good to see them.  I am picturing many, many zoo playdates between all of our playmates as soon as it gets nice enough to go!

G & G Visit

We ran down to Grandma and Grandpas for a quick visit yesterday afternoon.  These boys do love grandparents and are blessed to have so many.  We hung out and had cookies(thanks Kendra) and ice cream before heading home for more family time.

Pooptastrophe

There are no pics for this update, I didn't take any and even if I had...you wouldn't want to see them!  Last night Aunt Kate was over.  She was in the living room playing with the boys while I made supper.  Pretty soon I heard her say, "Who pooped?"  She brought Gavin in to me and I told her it was definitely not him.  So she grabbed Logan and headed up the stairs, assurring me she could handle it.

After a few minutes, my motherly instinct told me things were just not going well.  When I got up to the boys' room she was wrestling with him on the changing table.  She asked, "Do you still lay him on here to change him?"  Oh Lord...that's its!  Mom was taking over.  As I placed him on the changing table and pulled down his pants, I knew things just weren't quite right.  There was poop everywhere!  I went ahead and cleaned up the butt and legs and placed a new diaper.  When I went to take off the shoes to shed the poopy drawers I made a startling discovery...poop all the way down the legs and on BOTH shoes.

...this was not gonna be good.  I hollered down the stairs, "There's a terd on the loose!"  Steve shouted, "What?  A terd?"  "Yes, I assure you there is a terd or terds somewhere down there!"  This soon followed by an "Oh, no...man that is disgusting!"  I was secretly glad I was upstairs at this point as I am sure my words would not have been so mild.

I got Logan cleaned up and sent him back down.  I was scrubbing the crappy shoes in the sink when it dawned on me, "What the heck am I doing?  These things can go in the washer!"  When I got downstairs Steve had the carpet cleaner out and poor Aunt Kate was standing there holding Gavin and looking otherwise useless.  I asked her, "SO are you ready for kids?"  She just gave me this GO TO HECK look and said, "No."

Logan had been on the couch and the terd must have escaped on there.  There was poop smashed into both couch cusions and all OVER the carpet.  After we got the carpet cleaned and cushions taken apart I could have sworn I still had it on me...it was like it was engrained in my nostrils.  Any moms that have ever had to scrub toddler crap out of something know exactly what I am talking about.  After washing my hand at least 8 times, they still smelled like poop.  Ugh, Lord save me.

Logan when you are bigger,I will look back on this story and laugh...but right now it's a bit to "FRESH" to be funny!  Just thought I would share.  Never a dull moment around here!

What a Story

Gavin loves to TALK!  Tonight Steve was carrying him back and forth flying in the air in an effort to try to stave off a crying episode.  Recently, 2a.m. has become his favorite time to sit up and have full blown conversations.  There really isn't anything you can do except join in and laugh.  I will be surprised if Gavin is not always a little ahead of his age group for speech.  Lord knows Logan is and you have to speak up to keep up around here.

Some of my friends that have had babies close together are having problems with the younger ones not verbalizing as much, as early as the should.  It's almost like the older sibling speaks for them.  Not in this house.  I imagine Gavin will be talking and Logan will be screaming over him.

Today I saw a mom with 2 boys at Walmart.  They were in the line behind us and the boys asked very nicely if they could look at my baby.  They seemed to be about the same age apart as my boys but 2 years older.  I could see that being me in 2 years.  I was tempted to ask her, "What's the one piece of advice you would give me for the next years as a mom of 2 boys?"  But I didn't...I'm sure I haven't thought of all the possibilities of tough(and hilarious) situations that will arise...not sure I am ready to at this point.  Might be better just to take things as they come!

Our V-Day

Steve and I went to the casino last Saturday as our Valentines Day gifts to each other.  We lost the $ we had taken to spend but had a great time together.  I especially loves only getting up once in 6 hours(to pump) at night.  Nana kept the kids.

So we didn't do much actually ON Valentines.  Daddy couldn't resist not buying anything and did come home with a soft little bear for Logan and some bath stuff for me...oh yeah, and chocolates!  Nana came by to drop off Vday gifts for the boys.  She found these cute little stuffed elephant and gorilla banks that make the animal sound when coins are dropped in.

Gavin was being a complete ham tonight. He is quite entertaining to watch while he eats his cereal.  Tonight, Steve was quite entertaining to watch feeding him!  My hubby has the best spirit when it comes to keeping these little ones active and happy.  Today was day 2 out of 4 ten hour shifts for me this week...the blog will probably be quite quiet this week!  We are going to have a great weekend though.  Happy Valentines Day!

SnowBaby

I don't remember if it snowed much last year...I do know that Logan was NOT a fan of it then!
Not this year.  This boy was lovin him some snow fun time tonight.
Mommy loves to play in the snow almost as much.
Of course we had to come in and love on this little man too!

Valentines With Friends

Our friends have been sick but are finally well and came over for a playdate today!  We made Valentines Day cards, decorated cookies and played really hard!  Oh how we have missed them.  While they were over guess who found his toes?  That's right, little Gavin is now a foot grabber!

Gavin {4 Months}

Gavin, at 4 months you are such and overachiever!  The Dr. was very impressed at your appt.  You are as long as your brother was but weigh a pound a half less.  Your long limber body makes you very mobile.  Here's what you are doing at 4 months:

1.  Rolls from tummy to back(has since 8 weeks)
2.  Rolls from back to tummy
3.  Breastfeeds every 2-2.5 hours during the day.
4.  Usually goes to bed between 8 and 9.  Sleeps til around 2 or 3, up to eat then back to bed until 5.  Not a perfect sleep schedule but definitely a good base to build on.
5.  Are SO happy.  Even through teething and shots you only occasionally have to be worn around the house in one of Mommy's many wraps(I bought several after Logan lived in them).
6.  Giggle
7.  Are VERY ticklish, especially your tummy.
8.  Love to read books with Mommy and Logan.
9.  Are still sleeping in the bassinett in Mommy and Daddy's room, soon to move to the big boy bed!

Gavin {4 Month Checkup}

We took Gavin for his doctors appt today.  Here's where our stat weigh in:

1.  Weight: 13lbs 8.5oz(23rd percentile)
2.  Length: 25 inches(55th percentile)
3.  Head: 16 3/16 inches(20th percentile)

Growing, growing, growing!  Gavin still spits up quite a bit but he is growing just fine so the doctor is not concerned.  Gavin isn't on any meds.  He didn't even have a fever reaction to shots this time around(Whew!)

February 5, 2012 At Home

Well today was a very nice day...at home. These nice quiet days are farther and farther apart nowadays.  Tomorrow we will make up for the calm of today.  Gavin has his 4 month check up and shots(yuck, he did horrible at 2 months running fever for 48 hours), then it will be off to Wichita for my doctor appt.  If Gavin isn't a total pill I need to run and get some frames from Hobby Lobby and I would like to take the boys to get V-Day pics done.  We will see how it goes!
